Chakra is Sanskrit for "wheel", a vortex of subtle energy. Each of the 7 chakras became a guide on my journey, teaching me how to use this ancient paradigm as a map. Many people are hungry for images that are not part of a particular religion, that speak to a shared humanity. At this time, our life as a human community depends upon our relating to one another across time, cultures and religions. My desire in sharing The 7 Chakras is that they will contribute to a spirit of global community. My hope is that they will be an invitation to a dialogue among people about the life-affirming values we share. This series was a year in the making. About halfway through, I began to realize life was presenting me with experiences that expressed the energy and paralleled the meaning of each chakra. I was living what I was learning. So I tell my stories in the hope that they will bring to mind your own.
