I held a magnificent shed Burmese python skin... intricate patterns of rich brown against a bone white background. Raising the belly skin up to the light I could see transparent, hexagonal shapes like old leaded glass in a Victorian house. Before my eyes this magnificent skin became a monk’s cowl encircling the face of a middle-aged cleric made sensitive and humble by his life experience.
